TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Seven students from SMP Negeri 1 Rajapolah qualified for the Junior High School level Festival of Mother Tongue (FTBI) in the Ciawi region and are set to advance to the Tasikmalaya district competition.
The achievement was earned after the students participated in the Ciawi regional FTBI, which took place at SMPN 1 Rajapolah on Thursday, September 10, 2026.
FTBI serves as a platform to foster and evaluate students’ skills in Sundanese language and literature. The competition features various disciplines such as storytelling, public speaking, poetry recitation, singing pupuh, reading and writing Sundanese script, crafting short tales, and individual or group comedic performances.

The principal of SMPN 1 Rajapolah, H. Ucu Karni, SPd MPd, praised the seven students for their success in clearing the regional selection.
“This event acts as both a selection and training opportunity for students’ skills in Sundanese language and literature,” he stated during a conversation on Friday, September 11, 2026.
Ucu noted that the accomplishment is closely linked to the school’s coaching efforts. The qualification of seven students provides a strong foundation for competing in the Tasikmalaya district-level FTBI.
He hopes the progress continues beyond the regional stage and extends to the district competition.
The students’ accomplishments also bring pride to the school and reflect the outcomes of ongoing coaching programs.
“It also encourages other students to keep enhancing their skills,” he added.
Ucu further emphasized that FTBI plays a crucial role in inspiring students to recognize, utilize, and appreciate regional language and literary traditions.

Following the qualification of seven students, SMPN 1 Rajapolah is now preparing its participants for the district-level competition in Tasikmalaya. The school will continue offering support and training to ensure students deliver their best performance.
