EAT-MAN has officially unveiled a fresh anime adaptation titled The Over Order, marking roughly three decades since the previous entry in 1998. This announcement validates the cryptic teaser posted a week ago that showcased a video with screws.
The teaser video is available for viewing beneath this line.
A promotional image has also been made public:
EAT-MAN is a science‑fiction manga penned by Akihito Yoshitomi, centering on Bolt Crank, a mysterious “explorer” employed as a hired bodyguard as he roams the globe. Bolt possesses a bizarre power that lets him devour virtually any item—screws, metal, weapons—and later recreate them fully functional as arms.
Yoshitomi debuted EAT-MAN in MediaWorks’ Dengeki Comic Gao! in 1996, and the series spanned until 2003, culminating in 19 tankōbon volumes. Over a decade after its original finish, the franchise returned with EAT-MAN: The Main Dish, which started in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius in May 2014 and concluded in June 2019 across six volumes. Kodansha also reissued the classic story in a 10‑volume Complete Edition beginning in 2014.
The series saw two televised anime versions produced by Studio DEEN. The inaugural EAT-MAN season ran on TV Tokyo from January through March 1997, comprising 12 episodes. A follow‑up 12‑episode series titled EAT-MAN ’98 aired from October to December 1998. The original anime is presently available on Crunchyroll, which outlines the plot as follows:
Bolt Crank operates as an “explorer,” a hired agent who selects assignments that match his personal ethical code. Nonetheless, such figures are seldom trusted, and securing—or completing—missions can be fraught with danger. Even though Bolt claims this is the only line of work he excels at, he remains the most capable explorer in the business. Additionally, he possesses a singular power: he can ingest any object and later reconstitute it fully intact and functional. As a terse, enigmatic individual, it’s difficult to fathom someone with such an odd capability who, despite everything, simply wishes to live a normal life.
