TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The redevelopment of Dadaha, which integrates recreation, sports, economy, and citizen mobility, is considered lacking a clear priority. This situation could make it difficult for the government as it faces multiple competing interests.

Asep M Tamam, an academic from Tasikmalaya, believes that the Tasikmalaya City Government does not yet have clear priorities and targets in the redevelopment carried out in Dadaha. As a result, the redevelopment team is confused because they need to accommodate all interests. “If you want to accommodate everything, it will never be finished; the priority must be clear,” he said to Radar on Thursday (3/9/2026).

Historically, Asep M Tamam considers Dadaha to be a sports activity center. Therefore, the area is dominated by sports facilities ranging from stadiums, basketball courts, to the GOR. “Because Dadaha is indeed known as a sports activity center,” he said.

Therefore, he believes that the redevelopment should prioritize the interests of people who want to exercise. Moreover, Dadaha also often serves as a center for art activities with the presence of an art building. “Thus, the focus of the redevelopment is to maximize the function of sports facilities,” he explained.

For economic interests such as PKL, parking attendants, and business activities there, they only need to adjust as a secondary layer. They can carry out their livelihood activities in areas that do not disturb sports activities. “There is no need for negotiation; just place them directly in areas that do not interfere with sports activities,” he said.

He understands that the government is not only looking at the presence of illegal PKL and parking attendants in Dadaha, but also the people behind them. However, he believes the government must not give in and must be firm. “In the past, our government had a history of being able to restore order to Dadaha, which was even more chaotic than now; that shows that if they are serious, they can do it,” he said.

In addition to priorities, the redevelopment must have a clear time target to ensure continuous progress. Otherwise, the Dadaha redevelopment could be left hanging or half-hearted due to the absence of a time target. “For example, by the end of this year, or until the end of the mayor’s term, the time target must be clear,” he said.
