Pokémon Horizons: The Series anime and Pokémon GO are joining forces for a fresh partnership that spans both the TV series and the mobile title. A special anime episode will be broadcast in Japan on September 18, while an accompanying Pokémon GO event will run worldwide from September 16 through September 22.

Episode 150, titled “Hirogaru Sekai, Kimi to GO!” (The Expanding World, With You and GO!), will feature Liko and her friends conducting field research together with Professor Willow from Pokémon GO. As the story unfolds, the installment will disclose how Friede first encountered Charizard. PokéStops will also be present in the episode, and a promotional trailer has been released.

A Charmander wearing Friede’s goggles will appear for the first time in Pokémon GO during this limited event. It can be encountered in the wild, via Field Research tasks, while using standard Lure Modules, or through the event GO Pass. Trainers can evolve it into Charmeleon and subsequently Charizard, keeping the goggles intact. Shiny forms will be accessible, and certain spawns may include a Special Background.

A Pikachu sporting Cap’s hat will be obtainable in the wild again and may also show up in one‑star raids. Three‑star raids will showcase a Charizard with Friede’s goggles, along with Meowscarada, Skeledirge and Quaquaval. Shiny variants and Special Backgrounds will be offered for the raid‑featured Pokémon.

The pool of wild Pokémon changes depending on the hour. Between 5:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., trainers can meet species such as Fidough and Wattrel, while Chansey appears at a lower frequency. From 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Eevee and Hatenna become part of the spawn list, with Rockruff being a less common sight.

Additional perks consist of a higher likelihood of spotting Kecleon at PokéStops, special Field Research tasks tied to the event, and daily PokéStop Showcases. GO Snapshot will also include unexpected cameos by characters and creatures from Pokémon Horizons.

A temporary GO Pass will be handed out to all participants as soon as the event starts, providing advantages such as double Candy for capturing Pokémon, one‑hour standard Lure Modules, and extra Stardust when catching Hatenna and Wattrel.

The TV airing will incorporate yet another in‑game reward. On September 18, the episode will unveil a promo code that secures a encounter with a Charmander wearing Friede’s goggles that includes a Special Background.

The Pokémon animated series now centers on Liko and Roy’s continuing journey, whereas Pokémon GO debuted in 2016 as a location‑based mobile title. Pokémon disclosed its Generation 10 titles and starter Pokémon at this year’s Pokémon Day event, streamed live on February 27, 2026. The games, named Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, are slated for an exclusive Nintendo Switch 2 launch in 2027.

Earlier, the brand announced several unique anime specials, such as a World Earth Day episode, a Dragonite‑centric short produced by CoMix Wave Films for Pokémon Day 2025, and the latest POKÉTOON instalment called Wartortle and the Continuation of Summer, helmed by director Shingo Yamashita.

A fresh series titled The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu has also been slated for a 2027 release, alongside a new animated movie, Pokémon: Wild Card. The film is being produced by CloverWorks and is set to debut in 2027.
