A fresh stop-motion series from the Pokémon franchise, titled Pokémon Tales: The Adventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, will be available worldwide on Disney+ beginning in 2027, with its first visual now revealed.
Production is handled by Aardman, the British studio behind stop‑motion classics such as Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. Disney+ has secured a global licensing deal with The Pokémon Company International for the series.
Set in the Galar region, the narrative follows Sirfetch’d and Pichu as they embark on a quest to protect the local Pokémon. Along their journey they face unforeseen perils, meet fresh adversaries and allies, and watch their friendship deepen.
Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television, commented on the partnership and Aardman’s take on the Pokémon universe.
Pokémon uniquely blends nostalgia for veteran fans with a fresh appeal for newer audiences. In Pokémon Tales: The Adventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu, Aardman’s distinct stop-motion style and playful outlook breathe new life into the iconic franchise, offering viewers an unprecedented look at beloved characters.
Phil Rynda, Director of Original Animation at The Pokémon Company International, also shared what audiences can anticipate from the show.
The tale of bravery and adventure, presented through the Pokémon lens, has been elevated by Aardman’s talented team. Viewers will adore Sirfetch’d, Pichu and the diverse Pokémon lineup. Aardman’s depiction of the Galar region feels so vivid you can almost inhale the scenery, feel the tree bark, and yearn to join the heroes on their quest.
Pokémon unveiled its tenth generation titles and starter Pokémon at this year’s Pokémon Day, showcased in the Pokémon Presents broadcast on February 27, 2026. The games, named Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, are scheduled for a 2027 launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 only.
Earlier, the franchise released various animated specials: an episode for World Earth Day, a Dragonite‑centric short produced by CoMix Wave Films during Pokémon Day 2025, and the latest POKÉTOON episode titled Wartortle and the Continuation of Summer, directed by Shingo Yamashita.
