The live‑action adaptation of BLUE LOCK has grossed over 1 billion yen at Japanese theaters, prompting a fresh promotional push from Weekly Shonen Magazine’s editorial team.
The opening phase of the campaign launched on September 2, featuring tribute illustrations by numerous manga artists that were reposted on the official BLUE LOCK manga X account. These artworks were originally part of a limited booklet handed out to cinema attendees for the 2024 anime film BLUE LOCK the Movie -EPISODE NAGI-.

The movie opened in Japanese theaters on August 7, attracting 188,212 viewers and generating ¥277,648,800 ($1.7 million USD) in revenue over the first three days.
Its announcement coincided with Season 3 of the TV series, and Mei Hata has recently been cast as Anri Teieri. Additional cast members are listed further down.

The BLUE LOCK manga is penned by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. Kodansha distributes the series in English. It centers on BLUE LOCK, an initiative aimed at forging the ultimate self‑centered forward to lift Japan to World Cup glory. Produced by 8bit, the anime has aired two seasons and released the BLUE LOCK -EPISODE NAGI- film to date.
