TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The simultaneous digital implementation of Village Head Elections (Pilkades) in Tasikmalaya Regency is considered not appropriate to be applied soon. Apart from requiring a fairly large budget, the digital election system is also considered to have several potential risks that need to be carefully considered.
Member of Commission IV of the Tasikmalaya Regency DPRD, Aang Munawar, said that the plan for simultaneous Pilkades in 2027 should still use the manual system as in previous implementations.
According to him, implementing a digital system will require various preparations, especially the procurement of equipment and supporting infrastructure. This condition is considered to be inconsistent with the regional government’s efforts to achieve budget efficiency.

“Given the current situation, efficiency would turn into waste if we force a digital Pilkades. Because there must be procurement of various equipment and needs to support that system,” Aang told Radar on Thursday, August 27, 2026.
He believes that the use of technology in the Pilkades process could indeed become an alternative in the future. However, its implementation should not be done hastily without considering system readiness, budget, human resources, and data security aspects.
Aang also highlighted the potential risks in the implementation of digital-based Pilkades. One point of concern is data and system security, including the possibility of parties attempting to manipulate data or the voting system.
“Manual is safer, as before. If later it is indeed to be implemented digitally, there must be an example first. We can look at other regions that have implemented it, how the implementation is and what the success rate is,” he said.
According to Aang, the regional government needs to conduct a comprehensive study and evaluation before deciding to use a digital system in Pilkades.
The experiences of other regions that have implemented a similar system can serve as a consideration to understand the advantages, disadvantages, and various problems that may arise.
“We must look at other regions, how successful they were. Let’s not let this digital implementation tarnish Pilkades, especially due to the potential for fraud,” he said.

He added that the issue had previously been discussed in Commission IV of the Tasikmalaya Regency DPRD. However, from the perspective of cost requirements and potential risks, the implementation of digital Pilkades is still considered to have several problems that need to be resolved.
