CYBERPUNK EDGERUNNERS 2 has just dropped its second trailer and set a launch window for October 20, 2026. Studio TRIGGER is returning to bring the project to life. We recently chatted with the series’ writer and producer Bartosz Sztybor, who explained the studio’s selection and gave a behind‑the‑scenes look at the production.
This upcoming series offers a fresh 10‑episode tale set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, previously billed as “a gritty saga of redemption and vengeance.” The project is helmed by director Kai Ikarashi, who previously directed Episode 6 of the original series, “Girl on Fire.” Character designs come from Ichigo Kanno, with the script penned by Masahiko Otsuka. Bartosz Sztybor returns in the triple role of showrunner, story writer, and producer. The series will be available on Netflix, as previously announced.
Four principal characters and their Japanese/English voice actors were announced earlier. They are:
- Weak Kingsley: Formerly called “King,” he was once a top‑tier edgerunner; now he lives in the fading echo of his past triumphs.
- D: A Snake Nation netrunner boasting advanced tech abilities and a relentless drive for vengeance, D pursues the assassin who destroyed his clan.
- Roman Carax: A passionate cinephile hunting authentic narratives in a metropolis that swapped cinema for neuro‑dance; he is fixated on recording others’ lives.
- Talia Yang: Brought up amid corporate towers and forged by the chaos of Maelström, she is fiercely self‑reliant, immersed in a hyper‑violent world, and obsessed with her gang’s chrome aesthetic.

CD PROJEKT RED (CDPR) developed the Cyberpunk 2077 game. Studio TRIGGER also produced the inaugural CYBERPUNK: EDGE RUNNERS anime, which premiered in September 2022 and spanned 10 episodes. In December 2024, the franchise introduced a prequel manga centering on Rebecca and Pilar.
