CYBERPUNK EDGERUNNERS 2 has revealed a fresh poster key visual and trailer ahead of the show’s October 20, 2026 release. Studio TRIGGER is back to animate, with Netflix set to exclusively stream the series. We recently spoke with the show’s writer and producer Bartosz Sztybor, who explained why they chose the studio and shared insights into the production.
The new anime is a fresh 10‑episode saga from the world of Cyberpunk 2077, previously described as “a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge.” It is directed by Kai Ikarashi, who also directed Episode 6 of the original series titled “Girl on Fire.” Character designs come from Ichigo Kanno, and the script is penned by Masahiko Otsuka. Bartosz Sztybor returns in the triple role of showrunner, story writer, and producer. The anime has been voted the most anticipated Fall 2026 series by Anime Corner’s followers.

Earlier, the four lead characters and their Japanese/English voice actors were revealed. They include:
- Weak Kingsley: Formerly called “King,” he was once a top‑tier edgerunner; now he lives in the shadow of his past glories.
- D: D is a Snake Nation netrunner with sleek hacking skills and an even fiercer hunger for revenge, hunting the assassin that destroyed his clan.
- Roman Carax: Roman is a young cinephile seeking authentic stories. In a city that swapped cinema for neurodance, he becomes obsessed with chronicling reality by watching others’ lives.
- Talia Yang: Talia grew up in the corporate towers but was hardened by Maelström’s brutal trials; she stands fiercely independent, immersed in a hyper‑violent culture and obsessed with her crew’s chrome aesthetic.

CD PROJEKT RED (CDPR) created the Cyberpunk 2077 game. TRIGGER Studio also produced the inaugural CYBERPUNK: EDGE RUNNERS anime, which debuted in September 2022 as a 10‑episode series. In December 2024, the franchise launched a prequel manga spotlighting Rebecca and Pilar.
The debut series earned the title of Best New Anime and Best Original Anime in that year’s annual awards. Netflix streams the show, summarizing its plot: It’s a self‑contained 10‑episode tale following a street urchin battling to survive in Night City, a future metropolis obsessed with technology and bodily alteration. Facing total loss, he turns to a life of crime as an edgerunner—essentially a cyberpunk mercenary.
