TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com — A fire destroyed a single-family house belonging to Sarip, 70, a resident of Cikareo RT 004/RW 003, Kelurahan/Kecamatan Purbaratu, Tasikmalaya City, on Thursday evening (20/8/2026).
The blaze broke out at around 18.15 WIB. The incident was reported to the City of Tasikmalaya Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) at approximately 18.50 WIB.
Based on an assessment by the Tasikmalaya City BPBD, the fire is thought to have originated from a kitchen stove. The flames then caused the entire house structure to be consumed.

The head of Tasikmalaya City BPBD, Budi Martanova, said the house was severely damaged and could no longer be lived in.
All household items inside the residence were also destroyed by the flames.
“The house was completely burned and uninhabitable. No lives were lost in the incident,” said Budi Martanova, based on the Tasikmalaya BPBD team’s assessment, Thursday night.
The sole occupant was Sarip, a 70-year-old daily wage laborer (BHL).
As a result of the fire, the victim now requires urgent assistance in the form of clothing and food.
BPBD estimated the material damage at roughly Rp75 million, covering both structural damage and household furnishings consumed by the fire.
“We are currently coordinating the victim’s basic needs with the Social Service,” he explained.
Firefighters handled the situation with support from BPBD and volunteers.
The team also carried out damage assessment, documentation, coordination with the subdistrict authorities, and liaison with the PLN electrical installation.
