TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The issue of street parking retribution payments in Tasikmalaya City calls for a targeted review. The focus should not merely be on revising policies, but on resolving the various challenges that arise on the ground.

Parking problems are multifaceted, extending beyond mere administration or the government’s implemented system. Moreover, parking management faces on‑the‑ground obstacles, including rogue attendants, improper parking, and illicit deposits, which ultimately undermine service quality and regional revenue.

Amid a regional financial shortfall, revenue from the parking sector should be boosted. As time progresses, bustling areas in Tasikmalaya City continue to increase.

The Secretary of Commission II of the Tasikmalaya City DPRD, Angga Yogaswara, believes this situation should serve as a warning for the Regional Budget Team (TAPD) to reassess the impacts of policies that have been implemented.

He argues that evaluation must not be merely an administrative step after problems surface. Especially, the current fiscal climate demands policies that can truly maximize revenue.

“The TAPD team should reconsider the effects of a policy if it shows any shortcomings during implementation,” said Angga on Monday (17/8/026).

He emphasized that evaluation is increasingly critical as Tasikmalaya City’s regional finances are under pressure.

Angga also hopes the Mayor of Tasikmalaya will engage more actively with Commission II DPRD, particularly when discussing policies linked to Local Original Revenue (PAD). Because, in his view, executive‑legislative communication should not be limited to theoretical discussions.

“We don’t know if the mayor is aware of this, because personally I’ve never had a meeting with the mayor regarding PAD,” he clarified.

Angga believes that the PAD challenge cannot be entirely assigned to regional apparatus organizations (OPDs) as technical policymakers. He contends that the regional leader must understand the root causes and also encourage the emergence of innovations to resolve revenue issues.
