PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com-In addition to civil servants, every citizen has the right to decide how to spend their holiday during Independence Day. One way is to vacation at Pangandaran Beach.

During the 81st Anniversary of Indonesian Independence, the Pangandaran West Beach tourist site remains crowded with visitors. This shows that the Independence holiday is not always filled with parades, August competitions, or watching government-organized ceremonies.

Even as the moment of proclamation approached, many tourists were enjoying the water at this premier tourist site.

A LPG truck crashed in Pangandaran! Empty gas cylinders scattered on the road; driver dead. Former Tasikmalaya Mayor speaks about PAD potential! Dadaha parking revenue could hit 500 million.

A visitor from Bandung Regency, who wished to remain unnamed, said he had been vacationing in Pangandaran since Saturday (15/8/2026). “It’s a long holiday, so I took the chance,” he told Radar on Monday (17/8/2026).

He said he did not celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day in his hometown because he was busy spending the holidays in Pangandaran with his extended family.

Galuh University FISIP lecturer in Government Science, Asep Nurdin RA. S.IP, M.Si, said that nationalism does not mean one must attend or witness Independence Day ceremonies. Traveling does not mean nationalism fades, as it also reflects a free society..

This native of Pangandaran believes that nationalism is dynamic. “In the past it took the form of ceremonies and orations, but now it also takes the form of actions. Visiting local destinations, spending money at MSMEs, and promoting Indonesia’s natural beauty are part of contemporary nationalism,” he explained.

He considered choosing domestic tourism during a national moment as a form of “economic nationalism”.

When a family goes on a trip to Pangandaran, Asep said, their money will definitely circulate there. Paying for hotels, eating at stalls, and taking boats—all owned by Pangandaran residents. “That has a far greater impact than shopping abroad,” he said. (Deni Nurdiansah)
