Made in Abyss: Awakening Mystery, the debut movie of the franchise’s fresh theatrical saga, unveiled its main trailer just before the Japanese launch on October 23. The clip also spotlights two fresh faces in the cast and offers a preview of the movie’s theme tune.
Continuing straight after the finale of Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun, the movie sees Riko, Reg, Nanachi, and Faputa heading into the seventh level of the Abyss. Citrus is again on board as the animation studio, maintaining its role from prior films. The production team features:

The movie’s theme track titled “Chain of the Abyss” is sung by composer Kevin Penkin together with Mori Calliope. The fresh trailer provides a preview of this tune while also revealing the characters Tepasté (voiced by Sumire Morohoshi) and Cravali (voiced by Takanori Hoshino).
Akihito Tsukushi’s series, Made in Abyss, depicts the journey of a young girl named Riko and a mechanical boy called Reg into the Abyss—a vast chasm packed with ancient artifacts and strange beings. The manga appears on Takeshobo’s Web Comic Gamma and has printed more than 22 million copies.
A special concert called Made in Abyss Film Concert: Deep Echoes of Resonance took place on February 8, 2026 at Tokyo’s Nakano ZERO Grand Hall. Composer Kevin Penkin led an orchestra that played the anime’s music while giant screens showed footage. Singers Ko Saito and KIHOW (MYTH & ROID), known for the series’ theme songs, gave live performances, and the lead actors Miyu Tomita (Riko), Mariya Ise (Reg), and Shiori Izawa (Nanachi) were in attendance.
