Cibangbay Cup once again serves as a competition arena for local players to hone their abilities and showcase their quality before the public.

The Chairperson of PSSI Tasikmalaya City, H Wahid, said that the Cibangbay Cup is an annual agenda consistently organized by the committee.

Because of its continuous organization, the tournament is considered capable of becoming one of the community‑level football competitions that remains active in Tasikmalaya City.

“This is indeed an annual agenda. Last year the organizers invited me, and now it is being held again. I certainly provide support because activities like this are part of football coaching at the community level,” he said on Wednesday (29/7/2026).

According to Wahid, the existence of tarkam tournaments still plays an important role in preserving the vitality of local football.

It is on such village fields that many talented players are born before advancing to higher‑level competitions.

The tournament brings together regionally based teams, but each participant is given the opportunity to add strength with a maximum of three players from outside the team.

“The participants are region‑based, but each team may use three players from outside. So the matches become more competitive, while local players remain the main strength of each team,” he said.

A total of 23 teams will compete using a half‑competition format with group division in the early round.

The best teams will then advance to the knockout stage up to the round of 16 to fight for the championship title.

According to Wahid, the participants’ enthusiasm is a positive sign that community football is still alive and continues to grow.

Tournaments like the Cibangbay Cup are not merely about seeking trophies, but also serve as a stage for the emergence of potential players who can later strengthen clubs and represent Tasikmalaya City at a higher level.
