Thecuy.com – Mourinho gave the rationale behind a tactical decision that left Trent Alexander-Arnold out of Real Madrid’s main squad for several recent matches. According to him, the choice to field Federico Valverde as a right-back was made to meet the team’s needs at a particular moment, not because of any personal issue with the player.
Mourinho admitted that making such a decision is not easy for a coach, as it could affect players’ feelings. However, he emphasized that the team’s interests remain the top priority, especially when the tight schedule and the need for squad rotation come into play.
Keputusan taktis demi keseimbangan tim
He said that Valverde was deployed as a more offensive right-back to suit the match requirements. According to Mourinho, the decision was made with tactical considerations that prioritized team balance over personal preferences.
Rotasi akan tetap berjalan
Mourinho also dismissed the idea that limited playing time could lead to a player’s departure. He considered that the entire squad would still get opportunities to play because the season is long and requires fair rotation.
He said that the congested schedule, the risk of accumulating cards, fatigue, and potential injuries made every player valuable. He even gave an example that the starting lineup could change from match to match depending on the team’s needs.
On the other hand, Mourinho praised the professionalism of Alexander-Arnold and Denzel Dumfries, who he said accepted the coaching staff’s explanations well. For Mourinho, such a response is important to keep the dressing room atmosphere conducive even if not all players are always in the starting lineup.
This situation shows that competition within the Real Madrid squad is not only determined by individual quality, but also by tactical needs in each match. With a congested schedule, Mourinho said the opportunity to play remains open for all players throughout the season.
