TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Continuous efforts are being made to improve educational quality and boost the achievement of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) in West Java. One of them is through a TKA Framework Review Workshop attended by principals and teachers from vocational schools in Tasikmalaya City, Tuesday (28/7/2026).
The event, held at Radar TV Studio, is the result of a collaboration between the City of Tasikmalaya Vocational School Principal’s Work Council (MKKS), Erlangga Publishing, Radar TV, and the City of Tasikmalaya Vocational School. The workshop featured a speaker from the Education Standards, Curriculum, and Assessment Agency (BSKAP) of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
The Chairman of MKKS SMK Kota Tasikmalaya, Japar Solihin, said that the workshop participants were focused on subject teachers directly involved in the TKA implementation, namely Indonesian, English, and Mathematics teachers.

According to him, those three subjects are the main components of the Academic Ability Test, even though vocational schools also have vocational subjects according to each school’s competence.
“The three subject teachers are our priority because they are directly related to TKA. Even though there are vocational subjects in vocational schools, TKA measures students’ basic academic abilities,” said Japar.
He explained that the workshop was carried out because the TKA score achievement in West Java is still low. Even Tasikmalaya City is currently ranked seventh, so various steps are needed to improve the quality of the assessment results.
Therefore, Japar continued, his side welcomed the offer from Erlangga Publishing to hold a TKA framework review event as preparation for the assessment implementation.
“When Erlangga Publishing offered to hold a TKA review, we immediately welcomed it. This type of activity had actually been done before during the National Exam through a question structure review,” he said.
He added that the material presented directly by the speaker from BSKAP Kemendikdasmen was considered very important because TKA is still a relatively new policy and is only in its second year of implementation.
According to him, many teachers are still learning about the pattern and characteristics of TKA in order to adjust their school’s teaching strategies.

“Teachers are still unsure about the implementation of TKA because it is still relatively new. However, TKA is very important for students, especially those who will continue their education to higher education,” he said.
