Kevin Feige Speaks Out! Here’s Why No New MCU Films Will Appear Between Doomsday and Secret Wars

MovieBerita Film

The head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, finally speaks up and explains the strategic reasoning behind this decision. Come on, let’s break it down!

If you look at the release schedule for upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films over the next few years, you’ll notice something a bit unusual.

Back in the Infinity Saga era, the release gap between Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019) was filled with two solo movies: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (meant Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Captain Marvel. The goal was clear: to give the audience a breather while also answering which characters would aid the remaining Avengers in Endgame.

However, in the Multiverse Saga era, the strategy is completely reversed! After Avengers: Doomsday drops later (December 2026), fans will immediately be thrown into its epic sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, in 2027. There will be no MCU film slotted in between these two blockbuster releases!

Why is that? Instead of guessing, the head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, finally speaks up and explains the strategic reasoning behind this decision. Come on, let’s break it down!

1. Complete Focus on Quality (Quality Over Quantity)

In a recent interview with Empire magazine, Kevin Feige explains that the current primary strategy for the MCU is quality. After receiving criticism for rushed CGI work and less impactful storytelling in Phase 4, Marvel is now tightening their production schedule to avoid overly packed timelines.

“This is a strategic decision. We want to ensure that Doomsday and Secret Wars receive the complete focus of the entire production team. Having no film slotted in between means there’s no distraction (interruption in focus) for the audience or our VFX team,” Feige stated.

2. Directly Continuous Narrative (Direct Continuation)

Feige also hints at the story’s rhythm. Unlike Infinity War, where there’s a five‑year time jump before Endgame, Doomsday and Secret Wars are expected to have a very tightly connected flow without giving the audience a moment to catch their breath.

“What happens at the end of Doomsday will directly transition into the opening of Secret Wars. Inserting another story in the middle of such cosmic chaos would be narratively nonsensical,” Feige added.

3. Rumor that Secret Wars Will Not Be Split Into Two Parts

Beyond discussing the release schedule gap, Kevin Feige also confirms another important rumor. Recently, many have speculated that Avengers: Secret Wars would be so lengthy that it would need to be split into two parts (Part 1 and Part 2).

However, Feige firmly denies that rumor. Secret Wars will remain a single, intact film and will not be divided. This further emphasizes that the upcoming two Avengers films (Doomsday & Secret Wars) constitute a cohesive whole to conclude The Multiverse Saga.

Thus, for those of you who were hoping for an interim film to unwind before the multiverse war climax begins, you might want to brace yourselves right now!

What are your thoughts? Do you agree with Kevin Feige’s decision to place all the eggs in two baskets (Doomsday & Secret Wars) without any intermediate film? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments section!
