GARUT, Thecuy.com – Even though facilities are limited, the determination of young cyclists from Garut Regency remains strong, driving them to achieve national-level success.

These achievements were secured at the two‑day (25–26 July 2026) BMX Freestyle National Championship held at Bedas Extreme Sport Park within the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium complex, Bandung Regency.

Two athletes nurtured by Garut claimed top honors. The names that bring honor to Garut Regency are Atsyal Moch Rajab in the Men’s Park Junior category and Aurellia Caltha Acmela in the Women’s Park Junior category.

Garut’s BMX coach, Bayu Ningrat, expressed pride in his athletes’ tenacious efforts despite the constraints.

He noted that this accomplishment feels especially noteworthy because preparation took place amid considerable budget constraints for the event.

“Despite all the limitations, the youngsters proved their quality and attained a truly impressive achievement,” he said on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.

The competition, featuring 48 participants from four provinces—Jakarta, West Java, Kalimantan, and Bali—served as a critical stage for young riders to vie for the Indonesia National BMX Freestyle Team jersey.

Bayu hopes that the local government will step in to provide more adequate training facilities so that the potential of Garut’s athletes can continue to grow.

“Our hope is that the government can furnish the best possible facilities and infrastructure for the athletes,” he stated.

He added that if facilities become adequate, he is confident that the BMX athletes from Garut will develop further and make a significant impact on the international stage.

The Chairman of Garut Regency’s KONI, Subhan Romansyah, expressed his gratitude and appreciation.

He stressed that KONI, together with the Chairman of ISSI Garut, offers full support for the sport’s development.

“KONI strongly supports ISSI Garut, not only because BMX Freestyle is a sport featured in the 2026 Porprov, but also because it provides a platform for young people to express themselves,” he remarked.

Regarding the issue of training facilities, Subhan Romansyah explained that the athletes now train and operate largely on their own within the roller‑skate and skateboard community, including at Casacola Park.
