BanG Dream! YUME∞MITA Episode 6 Takes the Story in Another Direction

That episode was unforgettable.

Episode 6 of BanG Dream! YUME∞MITA steered the plot onto a path I never anticipated. After last week’s finale, I was eager to see what unfolded next and where the narrative would head now that Arale and Ritsu had finally found closure. Even with my own guesses, none matched the direction the story ultimately took.

The first twist was Ritsu officially becoming a member of Yumemita. To be honest, I never thought it would happen so soon, and it felt a bit anticlimactic. I assumed Episode 5 was just the start of her path to rejoin Arale, but Fairy Bouquet simply let her walk away.

In hindsight, it’s clear why they let Ritsu depart, and the reasoning fits the story’s logic. Yet I still wished for a more intense moment. Episode 5 devoted so much time to mending Ritsu and Arale’s bond that I expected another obstacle before she officially joined the group.

Instead, the “recruiting a member” skirmish turned out to be the spark that brought Ritsu into the band. With MewType now complete, there was a fleeting sense that the narrative had arrived at its end—only to reveal it hadn’t.

Now it’s unmistakable that Viola is the unseen hand scripting everything. Since her debut, she’s been tugging strings from the shadows, methodically setting events in motion while keeping her own hands clean.

The reunion of Ritsu and Arale was never a gesture of goodwill; it was just another pawn in a larger scheme. Now she has set her sights on Miyako next.

The more I considered it, the clearer it became why this target was chosen. Despite loving Miyako (she’s my top favorite), she’s the most susceptible to manipulation in MewType. She’s always overburdened, pushing herself to the edge, which leaves her drained and rarely able to pause and reflect, making her uniquely vulnerable compared to the others.

Episode 6 shines a light on just how chilling Viola can be, because her manipulation is never loud or obvious. It’s understated, precise, and deeply personal—she knows exactly which words to speak, which insecurities to target, and how to make someone fall for her without them realizing they’re being controlled.

Seeing her gradually gaslight Miyako was genuinely unsettling and caused me to zone out several times. I honestly can’t recall despising a BanG Dream! character as much as I do her. Still, I’m completely captivated by how she’s crafted.

For years, BanG Dream! lacked a genuine foe until Viola arrived. While there have been tough characters and rival groups, none truly filled the villain slot the way she does. Strangely, her goals still line up with one of the series’ core themes—kira kira doki doki.

Viola desires precisely what every girl in BanG Dream! has always wanted: to hit the stage, gain recognition, and become a star. What sets her apart is the method she employs to achieve it.

Across the series, bands have become stronger by backing each other up, pushing harder, and fixing their own flaws. Even figures like Nyamu or CHU², who sometimes seemed antagonistic, never reached Viola’s level of manipulation and didn’t bring others down as she does. They competed because they aimed to outshine others through their own talent, and they had supportive bandmates that helped them improve.

Viola isn’t interested in that. Her band Fairy Bouquet simply bends to her will. She has no desire to outshine rivals; instead, she aims to shatter them. Instead of climbing the stage together, she seeks to snuff out everyone else’s glow so her own shines the brightest. This is a total reversal of BanG Dream!’s core message, which is precisely why she makes such a powerful villain.

At present, every tactic she employs is paying off. MewType is inadvertently stepping into her plan, and the fractures she’s introducing are widening.

That’s the most thrilling part of where the plot is heading, as it has shifted from a coming‑of‑age tale of personal growth into something far bigger—and darker. It’s now a clash between MewType and the mastermind who’s been pulling strings and sowing chaos all along. If this is the path the second half will follow, we’re in for an unforgettable journey.
