Thecuy.com, Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) apprehended the Regent of West Lombok, Lalu Ahmad Zaini, during a sting operation on Monday, 20 July 2026. He arrived at the KPK’s Red White Building in South Jakarta at approximately 21.59 WIB, wearing a shirt, jacket, hat, and mask, without responding to journalists’ inquiries.
KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the sting operation. During the operation, the KPK detained 19 individuals and transported seven people to Jakarta for further questioning. The KPK also sealed the regent’s office and several rooms within the West Lombok Regency Government complex.

KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the sting operation was linked to alleged project kickbacks in West Lombok Regency. “This case is reportedly related to the acceptance carried out by the regent concerning projects within West Lombok Regency,” said Budi. The KPK confiscated cash amounting to hundreds of millions of rupiah and several documents as evidence.

In accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has a 1×24‑hour window to determine the legal status of those arrested. As of now, no suspects have been designated. The KPK continues to conduct preliminary examinations of the seven individuals taken to Jakarta, including Lalu Ahmad Zaini.
