Thecuy.com – The manufacturing PMI of Indonesia was recorded at 54.0 in October 2026, according to a release from S&P Global, as stated by Minister of Industry Muhammad Sarmuji. This figure places Indonesia above several countries such as Japan, Vietnam, China, South Korea, and Malaysia.

Sarmuji made the announcement during the opening ceremony of the Krista Interfood Exhibition at NICE PIK 2, Tangerang, Banten. He considered that a PMI figure above 50 indicates that the manufacturing sector remains in an expansion phase.

PMI strengthens compared to the previous month

In his explanation, Sarmuji stated that Indonesia’s manufacturing PMI in October 2026 rose from 52.4 in September. He also compared it with August, when the index was at 49.8, which entered the contraction zone.

In addition to Indonesia, several countries in the region also recorded manufacturing PMI above 50 during the same period. Taiwan and Thailand reportedly recorded higher figures, at 54.9 and 54.8 respectively.

Supported by new orders and exports

Sarmuji said that the strengthening of the manufacturing PMI was in line with Indonesia’s Industrial Confidence Index (IKI) in October 2026, which rose to 53.77. According to him, the strengthening of these two industrial indicators was supported by an increase in new orders that grew at the fastest rate in the last five years.

He also added that new export orders recorded the highest growth since the survey was first conducted in 2011. Based on these indicators, the Ministry of Industry assessed that business actors still have confidence in the investment and manufacturing climate in Indonesia.

The government encourages industry to seize the momentum

Sarmuji called on industry players to take advantage of this expansion momentum to increase production capacity. According to him, the Ministry of Industry not only acts as a regulator and facilitator, but also wants to be an accelerator for the growth of the industrial sector.

The statement was delivered amid signs of recovery and expansion in manufacturing that the government continues to monitor as one of the pillars of national economic growth.
