TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Two classrooms at SD Negeri Cioray, located in Kertanegla village, Bojonggambir district, Tasikmalaya regency, collapsed, apparently because of deteriorated building conditions aggravated by heavy rain. The Tasikmalaya Regency Education and Culture Office has proposed repairs to the building to the Ministry of Education on Thursday (5/11/2026).
The collapse of the two classrooms directly impacted the teaching and learning activities (KBM). Students were forced to study on the schoolyard terrace, the office room, and several other rooms that are still deemed safe to use.
The school’s condition drew public attention after a video of the collapsed building went viral on social media.

Principal of SDN Cioray, Maya Nuraeni, confirmed that two classrooms at her school collapsed. Fortunately, no students or teachers were inside the rooms at the time of the incident.
“Indeed, our school has a classroom that collapsed. Fortunately, there were no students inside the room. However, learning activities have been hampered,” said Maya.
According to him, the damage was not limited to the two collapsed classrooms. Three other buildings were also in a pitiful condition and were at risk of similar damage.
Even so, one additional room has long been unused because its roof had collapsed earlier due to decay.
As a result, the school now has only one classroom considered suitable for use. Several study groups (rombel) were forced to be combined in one room. Meanwhile, other students attended lessons in the office room and the schoolyard terrace.
This situation disturbed students’ comfort and concentration. Especially when it rained, water often entered the area used for learning activities, causing the learning process to be suboptimal.
The school hopes that the Tasikmalaya Regency Government will immediately carry out repairs or rebuild the damaged classrooms. Emergency tent assistance is also needed so that students can learn more decently while waiting for permanent treatment.

Head of Elementary School Division at Tasikmalaya Regency Disdikbud, Asep Ganjar, said that his party had directly inspected the school’s condition and communicated the repair needs to the central government.
“Checked on Sunday (1/11/2026). We have communicated to the Ministry of Education. So we are still waiting for confirmation (whether the proposal for repair, rehab, will be accepted) from the ministry,” explained Asep.
