TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Character building in children cannot be achieved solely through classroom learning. Positive habits practiced consistently at home and in the school environment also play a crucial role in shaping a disciplined and independent generation.

This effort was carried out by the Tasikmalaya Regency Education and Culture Office through the Great Indonesian Children’s Seven Habits Festival (KAIH) at the Graha Nanjung Building, Cintaraja, Singaparna District, Wednesday (4/11/2026).

The festival, attended by elementary school students from all over Tasikmalaya Regency, served as a venue for both introducing and practicing seven positive habits, including waking up early, diligently worshiping, regularly exercising, loving learning, engaging in society, eating nutritious food, and sleeping quickly.

Dozens of thousands of pilgrims were engrossed in Tasikmalaya Bershalawat at Alun-Alun Manonjaya. DPRD member Iyam Maryani: Strengthen child supervision, the Bantarkalong Tasikmalaya girl case serves as a warning.

The event was inaugurated by the Secretary of the Tasikmalaya Regency Education and Culture Office, Dede Martini, SAg MSi, and attended by the Member of Commission IV of the Tasikmalaya Regency DPRD, H. Dedi Kurniawan, ST MM, along with a number of officials from the Disdikbud environment.

The program is part of the policy of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) of the Republic of Indonesia to build the character foundation of the nation’s future generations towards Golden Indonesia 2045.

The Secretary of the Tasikmalaya Regency Education and Culture Office, Dede Martini, said that the implementation of these seven habits targets students progressively according to educational levels, from elementary school to junior high school (SMP).

β€œThis program actually has tiered levels, including elementary and junior high school levels. The implementation of the Seven Habits of the Great Indonesian Child is a program from the Ministry of Education that is realized in educational units according to the existing levels, which are elementary and junior high school,” kata Dede Martini, Rabu (4/11/2026).

He explained that the essence of the seven habits is actually already close to children’s lives. In rural areas, for example, the habit of waking up early has already been formed through worship activities. Similarly, exercise is often done when children help with their parents’ work.

Meanwhile, social interaction and the formation of community values also take place through learning activities at Madrasah Diniyah after children complete their formal education.

However, technological developments are one of the challenges in maintaining the consistency of these habits. Uncontrolled use of mobile phones can potentially disrupt children’s rest patterns.
