Thecuy.com, Pangkalpinang – The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights for the Bangka Belitung Islands (Kanwil Kemenkum Babel) has expressed its backing for LBH Aisyiyah’s intention to undergo verification and accreditation as a legal aid provider in 2027. This support was conveyed during a coordination and consultation meeting in Pangkalpinang on Wednesday (4/11/2026).
The meeting covered institutional readiness, administrative requirements, and the steps LBH Aisyiyah must meet before participating in the verification and accreditation process for prospective legal aid providers.
The Chairperson of Aisyiyah’s Law and Human Rights Council, Baharita, said that LBH Aisyiyah plans to pursue accreditation in 2027, with its office set to be located in Central Bangka Regency. He added that the presence of the institution is expected to help increase the availability of legal aid services in the area.
Currently, Central Bangka Regency is said to have only one accredited legal aid organization. This situation suggests that the presence of a new institution could potentially expand the reach of services for people needing legal assistance.
The Acting Head of Kanwil Kemenkum Babel, Kaswo, welcomed the plan. He believes that an accredited legal aid organization can help broaden public access, especially for disadvantaged groups, to legal services.
“We support the establishment of new legal aid organizations, especially in areas that still have limited services. The more accredited OBHs there are, the wider the access for underprivileged communities to quality legal assistance,” Kaswo said.
Kaswo also stressed that equitable legal aid services are part of the Ministry of Law’s commitment to ensure that people receive protection and legal certainty without being hindered by economic conditions or geographical limitations.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Division for Legislation and Legal Development (P3H) at Kanwil Kemenkum Babel, Slamet Iman Santoso, stressed the importance of administrative and institutional readiness before undergoing the verification and accreditation process. He said that prospective legal aid providers need to ensure that all requirements are met, ranging from the organization’s legality, the availability of human resources, to the completeness of administrative documents in accordance with the provisions.
During the meeting, the Young Legal Education Specialists at Kanwil Kemenkum Babel, Muhamat Ariyanto and Margaret S. S., also provided explanations concerning the requirements and the mechanism of verification and accreditation. The explanation referred to the Regulation of the Minister of Law Number 37 of 2025 concerning the Procedure for Verification and Accreditation of Legal Aid Organizations.
Through this coordination, Kanwil Kemenkum Babel hopes that LBH Aisyiyah can prepare its administrative and institutional needs early on, thereby increasing its chances of participating in the verification and accreditation process in 2027. This effort is expected to support the equitable distribution of legal aid organizations and expand access to justice for underprivileged communities in Central Bangka Regency.
