TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The national police chief has issued a notification banning vaping for officers and civilian staff, and the Internal Affairs unit is urging compliance from Tasikmalaya City Police personnel.

This aligns with Police Chief Circular SE/9/X/2026 on the Ban on Electronic Cigarette (Vape) Use within the Indonesian National Police. The measure serves as a proactive effort by law enforcement to prevent drug abuse disguised as e‑cigarettes or vaping.

In response to this circular, the Tasikmalaya City Police Internal Affairs Division promptly briefed officers who regularly vape on the new regulation, on Monday (2/11/2026). The session, led by the City’s Supervision and Evaluation Section Chief, AKP Irman Soleh, S.H., aimed to reinforce personnel discipline.

The Public Relations Chief of Tasikmalaya City Police, Iptu Jajang Kurniawan, admitted that many officers have been using electronic cigarettes so far. However, there is no evidence or indication of drug abuse yet. “Many people use vapes,” he told Radar.

Following the dissemination, all officers are expected to comply with the communicated rules and enhance awareness of the importance of maintaining discipline and order within the service environment.

Ipda Jajang further stressed that the Tasikmalaya City Police are committed to ongoing supervision and coaching of personnel, aiming to foster disciplined, professional, and accountable police officers.

When questioned about penalties for officers who violate the rule, there are currently no specific regulations in place. Nevertheless, Propam will certainly act based on any disciplinary breaches. “Propam will certainly issue a warning,” he said.

To improve preventive measures, the Tasikmalaya City Police Headquarters has been designated as a vape‑free zone, applying to both officers and visitors seeking services such as SKCK, SIM, police reports, and others. “The concern is misuse of vapes, so the rule covers both members and visitors,” he explained.
