Starvision has released the latest trailer and official poster for the horror film DEWI SILUMAN ULAR. Directed by Azhar Kinoi Lubis, the movie is adapted from a story featured in Prasodjo Muhammad’s podcast titled “Nikah Sama Jin”, which has been viewed over 5.6 million times. The screenplay was penned by Upi and Ayu Anggraini Putri.
The film stars Anya Geraldine as Dewi, a snake‑transformed spirit, and Derby Romero as Dedi. Additional cast members include Aulia Sarah, Aghniny Haque, Humaira Jahra, Ashraf Dirgham, Arswendy Bening Swara, Totos Rasiti, Azzalia Assyifa, Ayu Diah Pasha, Yatti Surachman, Arief Didu, Ence Bagus, Judith Callysta, Agung Bla, and Aldo Gudel.
The newest trailer shows Dedi’s life taking a dark turn after entering a pesugihan arrangement through marriage to Dewi. Pressured by financial woes and family troubles, Dedi opts for a shortcut without pondering the consequences of the pact.
Producer Chand Parwez Servia stated that the film originates from the pesugihan phenomenon still present in society. In his view, the story does not merely address mystical practices but also explores human choices under pressure and the ensuing repercussions.
Meanwhile, Azhar Kinoi Lubis described the difficulties of turning a true story into a feature film. He aimed to transform the source material into a cinematic horror experience with robust conflict and deep character development.
The movie DEWI SILUMAN ULAR follows Dedi, burdened by debt and pursued by creditors, while his wife needs a caesarean section. To safeguard his wife and unborn child, he impulsively marries Dewi, a spirit in serpent form. That choice, however, summons terror that endangers him and his family.
The film is slated for release in Indonesian cinemas on 12 November 2026.
