PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com – A large crowd filled the Pangandaran Sunset area on Monday morning (19/10/2026) to attend the 2026 Pangandaran Icon Carnival.

Various costumes, local symbols, and environmental conservation messages were showcased during the parade, which was part of the 14th anniversary celebrations of Pangandaran Regency.

Nevertheless, despite the festive parade and residents’ creativity, challenges in promoting tourism remain.

Approximately 290 athletes from 18 cities and districts compete for achievement opportunities at GOR Susi Susanti, as PBSI West Java targets the National Championship; Sinergi Foundation calls on the public to turn solidarity for Palestine into concrete actions.

Because highlighting local potential through a carnival is insufficient if its impact is limited only to the event’s duration.

A sustained strategy is needed to ensure that community creativity translates into actual tourist visits and local economic circulation.

During the carnival, representatives from numerous villages presented creations that highlighted cultural wealth and local potential.

From traditional Pasundan attire and sunflower motifs to turtle conservation messages and a replica horse, these elements formed part of the parade observed by Pangandaran Regent Citra Pitriyami, Deputy Regent Ino Darsono, and various regional government officials.

Pangandaran Regent Citra Pitriyami expressed appreciation to the committee and all participants.

In her view, the carnival is not merely an entertainment to celebrate the region’s anniversary, but a platform for residents to share ideas and showcase local identity through creative works.

“Certainly, this event serves as a venue to exhibit community ideas and creativity, presented through distinctive local creations,” she stated.

The Honda Stylo 160 targets community lifestyle trends, as riding now merges music and fashion; the rainy season is approaching, and Pupuk Kujang has prepared 98 thousand tons of subsidized fertilizer in West Java.

Citra believes that Pangandaran’s tourism strength does not rely solely on natural beauty.

Cultural wealth, community character, and citizen innovation can also serve as assets to broaden the appeal of tourist destinations.

“Through this activity, the region’s potential is promoted not only via its natural beauty, but also through its cultural richness, community character, and creative ideas that can attract tourists,” she said.

She hopes that the involvement of various community groups, especially village representatives, will continue to generate innovations in promoting Pangandaran’s tourism potential.

“With the participation of various community elements, we hope this activity can stimulate the emergence of innovation in tourism promotion,” she stated.

The Pangandaran Icon Carnival demonstrates that villages possess creative capital to support regional promotion.

However, the next task is to ensure that these creations do not remain mere temporary spectacles.
