Through the Police Friends of Children program, students are invited to learn about the duties and functions of the police directly.

The activity, packaged as a class outing, became an outdoor learning space while also introducing the figure of the police as a protector and guardian of the community.

SLBN Widi Asih is located in Bojong Village, Parigi District, Pangandaran Regency.

The school educates children with various disabilities, ranging from visual impairments, hearing impairments, intellectual disabilities to physical disabilities.

Pangandaran Police Chief AKBP Ikrar Potawari, through the Head of the Traffic Police Safety Unit Aiptu Acep Yudi Heriyanto, said that the activity was part of an effort to provide police services that embrace all segments of society without discrimination.

“Through this Police Friends of Children activity, we want to introduce the figure of a police officer who is friendly, approachable, and ready to help the community. We hope this activity provides a pleasant experience for the students and becomes an opportunity to learn and interact directly with the police,” said Acep.

A warm and interactive approach was applied so that the students feel safe, respected, and can more easily understand the role of the police in everyday life.

Direct interaction is also expected to be able to foster courage and self-confidence in children.

The Pangandaran Police stated that they will continue to build synergy with the education sector to expand police education, including for children with disabilities.

However, inclusive service cannot be measured merely from one educational activity.

Consistency in providing accessible, friendly, easy-to-reach, and equal services for people with disabilities is an ongoing task so that the spirit of Police Friends of Children truly feels present in the community. (deni nurdiansah)
