TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The illegal trade of alcoholic beverages in Tasikmalaya City has been uncovered again. This time, the distribution is believed to be using a cash‑on‑delivery (COD) system to simplify hand‑offs.
The Maung Galunggung Team of the Tasikmalaya City Police seized dozens of bottles of illicit liquor from various locations during a public order operation (pekat) early Wednesday morning (7/10/2026).
One of the discoveries occurred in Kawalu District. Officers stopped a motorcyclist carrying a backpack.
Telkomsel and PosDigi are targeting 200,000 POS agents through Sat Set packages; the zig‑zag drainage project in Cimerak, Tasikmalaya city, continues to draw attention, with the Minister stating it is being executed by the West Java provincial government.
Upon inspection, the bag turned out to be more than just ordinary luggage. Inside, 14 bottles of various types and brands of illicit liquor were discovered.
The alcohol was believed to be destined for distribution to buyers via a cash‑on‑delivery (COD) system.
The sweeps did not stop in Kawalu; officers proceeded to search other locations suspected of being hubs for illegal liquor. The operation yielded more bottles of illicit liquor.
Two men believed to be liquor couriers were also apprehended for further questioning.
AKP Hartono, Chief of the Samapta Unit at Tasikmalaya City Police, stated that the operation was part of routine patrols and public order enforcement aimed at curbing the spread of illegal alcohol within the police’s jurisdiction.
“The Maung Galunggung Team carried out patrols and enforcement activities at several locations suspected of being hubs for illegal liquor,” Hartono told reporters on Wednesday (7/10/2026).
He explained that the illegal liquor trade drew police attention because it could cause public security and order issues, including disturbances and other criminal acts.
“Through these efforts, we have seized dozens of bottles of liquor from various brands and types,” he said.

Hartono stressed that patrols and crackdowns on illegal liquor distribution will continue to be conducted on a regular basis.
The police also urged the public to share information if they become aware of any illegal liquor activities in their neighborhoods.
“We will keep conducting patrols and enforcement. The community is also expected to play a role by providing information if they know of any liquor distribution in their area,” he concluded. (rezza rizaldi)
