PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com – The prolonged dry season is starting to show its harshest face in Pangandaran Regency. The drought is no longer confined to a few spots, but has spread to 38 villages across nine districts.

The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Pangandaran Regency recorded that at least 27,946 people, or 9,494 households, were impacted by the drought disaster.

That figure serves as a warning that the clean water issue in Pangandaran extends beyond merely dry wells. For tens of thousands of residents, obtaining water now requires assistance and emergency distribution.

BPBD Chief of Pangandaran Regency, Dodo Kusnadi, stated that nine areas suffered significant impact.

These are the districts: Kalipucang, Padaherang, Pangandaran, Cijulang, Cigugur, Parigi, Cimerak, Sidamulih, and Mangunjaya.

“Kalipucang is the worst‑hit area, affecting 8,086 residents or 2,730 households,” Dodo told Radar on Thursday (8/10/2026).

The situation makes the distribution of clean water an urgent necessity. In some locations, community water sources have completely dried up.

BPBD Pangandaran partnered with several inter‑sectoral agencies to conduct emergency clean water deliveries to the affected zones.

According to Dodo, up to now 2,453,000 liters of clean water have been dispatched via 215 vehicles to multiple disaster‑stricken locations.

The provision originates from multiple sources. Tagana donated 1,225,000 liters, BPBD Pangandaran supplied 950,000 liters, and the Large River Basin Office (BBWS) contributed 278,000 liters.

The Zig‑Zag Drainage Project in Cimerak, Tasikmalaya City, continues to draw attention; PUTR says it is being executed by the West Java Provincial Government. A mahogany tree in Mangkubumi, Tasikmalaya City, fell suddenly, causing traffic to open and close intermittently.

Nevertheless, the massive influx of water assistance also underscores the severity of the drought crisis confronting residents. As water sources run dry, even essential needs must be delivered by vehicle.

Dodo stressed that the distribution of clean water in collaboration with Tagana Pangandaran is an immediate requirement. This is because water shortages have spread and tens of thousands of residents are directly affected.

“The clean water distribution is critically urgent as the drought has widened and directly harms the community,” he stated.

During this expanding water crisis, not every region in Pangandaran endures comparable circumstances.

Dodo noted that Langkaplancar is a region that remains largely untouched by the extended drought.

Nonetheless, the situation in numerous villages shows that the extended dry season is no longer merely a matter of weather. For thousands of families, the issue is now straightforward yet vital: water for everyday use is growing scarce. (deni nurdiansyah)
