PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com – Even after millions of liters of clean water were distributed, the water crisis in Pangandaran Regency still persists.
Amid an extreme dry season that has caused residents’ wells to run dry, a total of 38,296 people, or 13,073 households, continue to suffer from a lack of clean water.
According to the latest data from the Pangandaran Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), drought has affected 49 villages across 10 sub‑districts.

This situation illustrates how arduous the residents’ struggle to obtain water is, a basic necessity that should not have required such effort up to this point.
The clean water crisis is triggered by reduced water source flow due to climate change and the impact of the El Nino phenomenon.
To meet community needs, BPBD collaborates with the Disaster Siaga Volunteers (Tagana), the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), and the Central River Basin Authority (BBWS).
Distribution is carried out to several affected areas, including remote residential settlements.
“To date, the total water distributed has reached 4,020,000 liters, equivalent to 264 tanks,” said Dodo on Monday (26/10/2026).
The figure indicates the magnitude of the handling efforts that have been carried out. However, on the ground, the problem remains unsolved.
Several residents’ wells were reported to have completely dried up, while springs around the settlements are beginning to lose their supply.
Officials have to work marathon‑style. Water deliveries are carried out from morning, noon, to evening to help residents meet their daily needs.

Without such supply, the community faces difficulties in obtaining water for household purposes.
The El Nino disaster has worsened conditions in remote villages. Residents’ wells are dry and barren. The water supply effort is expected to alleviate their burden in facing the prolonged dry season,” he explained.
Water distribution is carried out daily based on official requests from village or sub‑district governments.
The high demand on the ground sometimes forces officers to work until late at night.
“We provide clean water supplies every day to assist residents. We distribute water with a capacity of 6,000 liters per tank and hope that residents can use it as needed, especially for priority needs,” he said.
