PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com – The national road connecting Padaherang and Kalipucang in Pangandaran Regency is now dotted with dump truck movements transporting materials, prompting complaints from locals.
The problem is not only the passage of heavy vehicles, but also excessive loads that cause dust and scattered debris on the road surface.
Over the past few weeks, the activity of dump trucks transporting white limestone (cabluk), soil and black stones has been observed to become increasingly dense along the stretch.
A mahogany tree in Mangkubumi, Tasikmalaya City, fell unexpectedly, causing traffic to alternately open and close. Here are 25 events for the 25th anniversary of Tasikmalaya City.
Some trucks even carry loads piled high, exceeding the height of their beds. The tarpaulin covering does not always manage to keep the material from spilling as the vehicle moves.
This condition forces road users, especially motorcyclists, to confront dust clouds that impair visibility.
“The flying dust impairs visibility and causes eye irritation,” said Padaherang resident Idin on Tuesday (6/10/2026).
Not only dust, but also material scattered from truck beds pollutes the road surface. If left unaddressed, the situation could endanger riders.
The Padaherang‑Kalipucang route itself is an important access point on the national highway.
This stretch serves as a connection to the Pangandaran tourist area and as a route for vehicle movement to and from Central Java.
Every day, the road is traversed by various types of vehicles, ranging from motorcycles, private cars, buses to tourist vehicles.
Not just selling motorcycles, Niaga Redja Abadi serves 75 thousand Honda customers in East Priangan. Multi‑layered authority, KKMP Tasikmalaya City opens communication up to central government.
Amid heavy traffic, the presence of trucks with excessive loads poses a separate issue.
Moreover, the origin and destination of the material transport are not yet clearly known.
Residents are urging the relevant agencies not to wait until an accident occurs before taking action.
Monitoring of material transport vehicles is considered necessary to be tightened, particularly regarding load limits, the condition of the covering, and operational hours.
Another resident, Undang Herdia (50), hopes that enforcement does not stop at occasional inspections.
According to him, supervision must be carried out consistently so that material transportation activities do not sacrifice the safety of road users.
“There must be strict supervision, ranging from enforcing overload regulations, ensuring the feasibility of the covering, to arranging the operational hours of transport fleets. So as not to endanger public traffic, especially residents,” he said.
