TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com—The unclear progress of the Dadaha revitalization has also drawn criticism from student activists. The current situation in Dadaha reflects the failure of the Tasikmalaya City Government.

The Chairman of PMII Kota Tasikmalaya, Ilham Ramdani, stated that the Tasik Pelak program (local and regional economic financing and breeding), which has been a source of pride, has been implemented incorrectly by the Tasikmalaya City Government. In reality, street vendors are left to set up stalls in areas not designated for them. “Street vendors have grown wild without clear zoning, with sidewalks turning into shops,” he said.

There is also no accurate data on the validity of street vendor data, nor is there clarity on the retributions that go into the Regional Original Revenue (PAD). In reality, they are not trading there for free. “Who is entitled and how much revenue goes into the PAD is all unclear,” he explained.

Strangely, Ilham continued, when there is a big event, street vendors are removed under the guise of enforcement and revitalization. After that, they are allowed to return to trading as if to build them up, but it’s actually for retribution and personal and group profit. “This is not pembinaan (mentoring) but extortion and illegal levies by certain individuals,” he asserted.

Regarding revitalization, the Tasikmalaya City Government is also considered to have failed to understand it. Because it is not based on a mature and comprehensive concept and planning from the start. In the end, Satpol PP officers are placed without taking any action. “Every day they patrol the dadaha area like they have nothing to do,” he said.

If the city government is serious about revitalizing, it should have clear planning and mapping, along with the provision of necessary facilities and infrastructure. So that there are no stories of ad-hoc road repairs or confusion in the middle of the process.

“How can Dadaha visitors be made to feel busy and comfortable when the infrastructure doesn’t support it? The jogging area’s lights are all broken. Things like that should be taken care of,” he said.

In his opinion, Dadaha is a potential regional asset that can contribute significantly to Regional Revenue (PAD), provided it is managed optimally. However, it is very unfortunate that the city government is unable to utilize it properly. “Don’t cry deposit if the government today cannot manage assets that can generate PAD,” he said.
