Thecuy.com, Semarang – Road safety cannot be taught solely through theory. The message must be understood, applied, and then spread to the surrounding community. This spirit is carried by PT Astra Honda Motor (AHM) through the inaugural Cari Aman Academy 2026. The event took place on 6–8 October 2026 at the Astra Motor Safety Riding Center in Semarang, Central Java, and brought together 56 students and 28 accompanying teachers from 28 schools under the Astra Honda Safety Riding programme across various regions of Indonesia.
With the theme “The Next Change Makers, Jago Cari Aman Biar Happy”, the gathering is more than just a contest. Participants are challenged to demonstrate how far they can act as promoters of road safety, using knowledge, skills, and creativity. Hendrik Ferianto, Safety Riding Instructor at PT Astra Honda Motor, said that “this is the first time we have organised it. Our aim is to evaluate and reinforce that this represents AHM’s contribution to helping the government lower accident figures.”
Before their national appearance, the students had been actively involved in various educational activities at their schools. They served as role models for peers, sharing knowledge about safe riding with other pupils, and encouraging local communities and residents to adopt safer driving habits.
Evaluation Criteria for the Competition
In this national competition, participants’ abilities are assessed across three primary aspects: Knowledge, Skill, and Creativity. In the Knowledge category, participants take a theory test while also demonstrating their capacity to explain safe riding behaviour using the CariAman 5P material. This skill is crucial because a safety advocate must not only grasp the material but also be able to communicate it to others.
Meanwhile, the Skill aspect evaluates riding proficiency through various challenges such as braking, slalom, and static balance using the Honda BeAT. Equally interesting, the Creativity aspect provides participants with an opportunity to illustrate how they can present safety messages in ways that resonate more closely with everyday life. Participants are tasked with designing educational activities that can engage the surrounding community in understanding the importance of riding safely.
Awards and Appreciation
In addition to honours for participants, Cari Aman Academy 2026 also confers appreciation through several categories. The Task Force Award is intended for accompanying teachers, while students compete for the Agent Award. Meanwhile, partner schools have the opportunity to win Best SR Creative Activity and Best SR School Partnership.
The programme forms part of an ongoing development process that started in 2025. AHM, together with the Honda motorcycle main dealer network, has previously engaged 38 Safety Riding partner schools to construct an educational ecosystem for riding safety within academic settings. Teachers and student mentors first receive preparation through the Safety Riding Advisor Training (SAT) Level 1.
Stages and Selection Towards the National Competition
These stages were then followed by the Cari Aman Academy Bootcamp, held during August–September 2026 across various regions of Indonesia. The challenges presented to Bootcamp participants served as both a training ground and a selection process for the national competition. One of the tasks assigned was public speaking on the CariAman 5P material. In this session, participants were required not only to grasp the content but also to compose messages, establish communication with the audience, and deliver them in an engaging and easily comprehensible manner.
Through this series of events, Cari Aman Academy 2026 demonstrated that young people can assume a larger role in cultivating a culture of road safety. They are not merely road users who understand the regulations but are being prepared to become “change makers” capable of encouraging others to embrace Cari Aman.
