This is seen as an unethical stance by the government because they dared to start but didn’t finish. The city government dared to carry out the redevelopment without being based on planning, including budget support.

Tasikmalaya social and governmental observer, Asep M. Tamam, considered that the Tasikmalaya City Government has various alternatives to find sources of funding if the regional budget capacity is insufficient. This must be mapped out in the planning process, whether seeking budget support from the central government or other sources that comply with regulations.

“If it truly cannot be budgeted through the regional budget, the city government must have the ability and willingness to find funding sources from the central government,” he said.

The current situation shows that the Dadaha redevelopment was carried out without proper planning and adequate budget support. This creates an impression that the government is working in a hasty manner, i.e., not professionally.

If they were serious, Asep said, the city government should have prepared a thorough plan along with the necessary funding sources. To avoid getting stuck halfway and the redevelopment not being completed.

“Let’s not have the redevelopment done carelessly, only to fail later and then bring up the excuse that there is no budget again,” he said.

In this situation, Asep hopes that the Tasikmalaya City Government will immediately determine a clear direction for the Dadaha redevelopment. The government must show whether the area will truly be transformed into a representative public space or will just be allowed to develop sporadically following various interests.

“This requires an urgent decision. The government must be serious about determining where Dadaha is headed,” he concluded.

The Dadaha complex holds an important function for the people of Tasikmalaya City. This area serves as a place for residents to exercise, relax, gather, and carry out various social activities.

Students in Tasikmalaya are suspected of being victims of bullying, being punched and slapped by dozens of people. The digitalization of roadside parking in Tasikmalaya City is hampered by signal issues and rogue parking attendants.

“In my opinion, Dadaha is a treasure for the residents and for Tasikmalaya City. It shouldn’t be managed carelessly. It must truly be organized to be orderly, comfortable, and beautiful,” he said.

He considered that the current condition of Dadaha still requires comprehensive improvement. The redevelopment is not sufficient by merely regulating traders’ activities or conducting traffic engineering in the surrounding area.
