YAIBA: Samurai Legend Season 2, the Kaguya Arc, unveiled the primary anime artwork and announced a launch on January 9, 2027. WIT STUDIO will produce the animation for the fresh take on Gosho Aoyama’s comic, whose inaugural season appeared last year.

The artwork depicts Yaiba brandishing the Thunder God Sword while facing Onimaru’s Wind God Sword. Takahiro Hasui oversees the series as director at WIT STUDIO, while Toko Machida is in charge of series composition and Yoshimichi Kameda acts as character designer and chief animation director. Studio Kurm assists with animation production. The new illustration can be viewed beneath.

Studio Kurm, a CyberAgent affiliate founded on October 1, 2025, is led by anime producer Maiko Okada as its president. Okada previously held the role of animation producer for YAIBA: Samurai Legend Season 1, which listed WIT STUDIO as the animation producer. In Season 2, Studio Kurm receives credit for animation production collaboration, whereas WIT STUDIO continues as the primary animation studio.

YAIBA (styled as Y∀IBA) is a Japanese manga penned and drawn by the acclaimed Gosho Aoyama, also recognized for creating Magic Kaito and Case Closed/Detective Conan. The series appeared in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday between September 1988 and December 1993. It received an anime adaptation from studio Pastel during the 1990s, spanning 52 episodes from April 1993 to April 1994.

The narrative centers on Yaiba Kurogane, a youth who resurfaces in Japan after undergoing jungle training to master the samurai way. He starts residing with the Mine family, and an age‑old ability surfaces after his encounter with the proficient kendo practitioner, Takeshi Onimaru. A fresh visual has also been unveiled:
