The Vermilion Mask anime has unveiled its second main trailer and key art, plus additional cast members, and announced an October 10 premiere. It was earlier confirmed as a two‑part series, with the first cour slated for October 2026. Crunchyroll will stream it.
The anime is directed by Tetsuaki Watanabe, with One Double-O studio on animation production. Daisuke Ohigashi supervises the series composition, Hisashi Higashijima is the character designer and chief animation director, and Alisa Okehazama composes the music. The original creators, Dr. Poro and Nabana Naba, also oversee the story.
MAN WITH A MISSION will deliver the opening theme “Firestarter,” and yutori will provide the ending theme “Koe.” Both tracks appear in the fresh trailer, which you can view below.
The lead voice actor is Taihi Kimura, portraying Peru d’Arrest, after his recent casting as Chihiro Rokuhira in the upcoming KAGURABACHI anime. Additional main cast members include:
- Kenji Nojima as Hien
- Aoi Koga as Lasgarl
- Yuki Shin as Clown
- Akihisa Wakayama as Rinne
- Aya Endo as The Mask of Necromancy
- Yui Horie as Master
Hien serves in Lisblanc’s Governance Guard, initially idolizing Gouon as a father figure, until a mishap flips his feelings toward Peru into animosity. Nojima remarked:
“When I heard the word ‘mask’ I read straight on through the script with real interest — I have always loved the masks of Noh and kagura.
A mask disguises you as someone else. Everyone must carry a few masks of their own, and if you keep wearing the mask of the person you long to be, it seems you might reach a point where you can no longer take it off. Even when you face someone with an honest expression, your mask is doubted, or you find yourself doubting theirs. Where does a mask that is meant to protect you ultimately lead? It gave me a great deal to think about. I want to keep facing what is in my own heart. I hope you enjoy this series.”
Lasgarl is portrayed as a book‑loving woman who commands sound through her mask, her temperament shifting when the fight starts. Koga said:
“I’m Aoi Koga, and I’ll be the voice of Lasgarl.
When I learned I’d land the role, I couldn’t believe I was joining this project as Lasgarl — it felt like a delightful surprise, and my heart raced thinking about what she’d do next.
I know manga readers must be curious about her too, so I’m excited to see where the story goes while giving the character my all.
Taking on an antagonist is something new for me and a real test, but I’ll strive to portray her as someone who stands firm against the heroes, even as they push back, never wavering in the face of their intensity. I hope you’re eager to see her.”
The series adapts the manga penned by Dr. Poro and illustrated by Nabana Naba, which appears in Young King OURs magazine published by Shonengahosha. Eight volumes have been released to date.
