For the past 35 years, Asep has remained dedicated to pedaling his becak around Pasar Cikurubuk. It is this work that has been his livelihood, supporting his daily needs.

Previously, Asep was listed in Desil 2, qualifying him for various social assistance programs from the government. However, following the latest data update, his status changed to Desil 6.
This change directly impacted the assistance he had been receiving. Asep said that there had been two rounds of government aid distribution, but his name was no longer on the recipient list.
“Now that there have been two rounds of government aid, I am not receiving any. They say it’s because my desil is high, I’m in desil 6,” said Asep.
However, according to Asep, there have been no significant changes in his life that would make him feel more prosperous.
He still does not own a house and continues to live in a rented place. His income as a pedicab driver must also be used to support his family, including two children who are still dependent on him.
