TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – A crackdown on street vendors at the Wiradadaha Stadium jogging track in Dadaha, Tasikmalaya City, received a positive response from regular exercisers.

Nevertheless, this approval does not imply that the government should cease its efforts to clear the track.

Residents consider the improvement of the jogging track essential, yet the welfare of street vendors must also be addressed by offering suitable relocation sites.

Mulyasari Sahara (26), a Tawang district resident who regularly works out in Dadaha, stated that the street‑vendor crackdown placed the authorities in a predicament.

In terms of city planning and public‑space usage, the action was deemed logical. Yet, economically, the traders cannot be left without a means to earn a living.

“It’s a fifty‑fifty situation. I can’t really call it support. But in terms of urban improvement, it makes sense. The current economy makes it a bit sad, and the choice is hard for the people,” she said during an interview in Dadaha on Friday (28/8/2026).

She thinks the Tasikmalaya City Government needs to prepare relocation options for the street vendors.

Moreover, the Dadaha area is now considered quite crowded, requiring a clearer separation between sports activities and economic pursuits.

“In my personal view, relocation could be attempted, to some place. Now Dadaha is already full. Maybe we could open something like a Mambo branch,” he explained.

Mulyasari believes that the presence of street vendors in Dadaha is not just about order.

Behind those stalls and goods are people striving to sustain their livelihoods.

Therefore, she asserts, the arrangement must still consider social justice. The street vendors removed from the jogging track must be provided with alternative spaces to sell.

“So this is purely about social justice for all people. Those who are relocated must have a specific place to sell,” she revealed.

On the other hand, she admitted that the presence of street vendors does disrupt sports activities, especially on weekends when the Dadaha area is crowded.

“Personally, I’m only disturbed on weekends; it’s so crowded. When we run, sometimes it gets a bit cramped,” she said.
