A total of 5,825 athletes from 27 districts/cities flocked to Tasikmalaya city to take part in the 2026 West Java Provincial Student Madrasah Sports and Arts Week (Porseni).

The event, organized by the West Java Regional Board of the Madrasah Teachers Association (PW PGM) Indonesia, was held for three days, from August 22 to 24, 2026.

PPP of Tasikmalaya City rejoins NU’s main organization to boost cultural ties and target a resurgence before the 2029 elections; NPL nears a cautionary yellow light, while credit momentum in East Priangan continues to accelerate.

The total number of participants, contingents, officials, and supporters in attendance surpassed 7,000 individuals.

The Porseni opening ceremony was lively. The Head of the West Java Provincial Office of the Ministry of Religion, H. Dudu Rohman, together with the Mayor of Tasikmalaya, Viman Alfarizi Ramadan, the Chairman of the DPRD, Aslim, the Chairman of PW PGM Indonesia West Java, Asep Rizal Asyari, and several other officials inaugurated the event.

Symbolically, the opening was marked by the release of balloons into the sky. Following that, thousands of participants from various regions paraded before the honored guests.

The Head of the West Java Ministry of Religion, H Dudu Rohman, expressed appreciation to the Tasikmalaya City Government for their support and facilitation of the 2026 Madrasah Porseni.

In his view, Porseni is not merely a competition to find winners; it serves as a platform for madrasah students to develop their potential, both in education and sports.

“The purpose of holding this Porseni is to provide a space for developing students’ potential in both education and sports. Hopefully, this activity will become an extraordinary collaboration, enabling madrasah students to deliver their best performance,” said Dudu.

He also reminded all participants to uphold sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Mayor of Tasikmalaya says all Kadin chair candidates are strong, and the Mukota V election race heats up; three contenders are competing for the KADIN Tasikmalaya City chairmanship as the Mukota process moves into verification.

“Sports is a part of life. We must be healthy, both physically and mentally. Because a healthy mind will produce a strong and achievement‑oriented generation,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Tasikmalaya, Viman Alfarizi Ramadan, urged participants to emulate the fighting spirit of world boxing champion Muhammad Ali, renowned as an inspiring Muslim athlete.

According to Viman, a champion is not born solely from intense training; beyond that, one needs dreams, vision, and a strong desire to achieve success.

“A champion is not forged only in the training place, but from what resides within, namely desire, dreams, and vision. That spirit must be ingrained in all participants,” Viman concluded.
