PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com – A prolonged dry season forces many residents of Kawarasan hamlet, Sindangwangi village, Padaherang district, to depend on an old well for clean water.
People must line up to draw water from that aging well, which they then use for washing clothes and cooking. From morning through afternoon to evening, scores of locals take turns visiting the open well situated near the plantation area, roughly 200 meters from the settlement.
A community leader named Ikut, aged 60, noted that such circumstances recur each dry season. Moreover, the present situation has become notably severe.

These activities take place daily during the current dry season. Residents of RT 13 in Kawarasan, in particular, visit here every day. Approximately one hundred individuals are heavily reliant on this well,” he told the press on Friday (7/8/2026).
The well’s water is used for a wide range of household tasks, covering drinking, bathing, laundry, and washing household utensils.
Ironically, residents say they have not yet received any clean water distribution assistance from the local government.”No deliveries yet, no shipments yet,” he said.
Ikut mentioned that there are actually three wells in the area still being used by the community. Nevertheless, they must all be used on a rotating basis due to limited water flow.
