Square Enix’s Manga UP! has announced that Yang Can’t Live Alone (Yan‑senpai wa Hitori de Ikiteikenai) will conclude this month, pointing to persistent editorial problems that caused a loss of confidence with creator sooncha.
On August 4, the publisher revealed that the series will wrap up with Chapter 15‑3, slated for release on August 13. In its official statement, Manga UP!’s editorial team admitted that the issues arose from inadequate handling of both serialization and promotional duties by the assigned editor.
“There were failures in the way the editor managed serialization and promotion. We tried to restore confidence, even swapping out the editor, but it didn’t work. After talks between sooncha and the Manga UP! editorial team, we decided to stop publishing the series.”
The publisher extended an apology to both readers and the creator, expressing regret for eroding sooncha’s confidence and for letting down fans who have been following the story.
The announcement follows a statement from sooncha issued the previous day, in which the creator said the series would stop due to a “breakdown in the relationship of trust” with Manga UP! and that the publisher would no longer hold the rights to the work.
“Because of the ruptured trust with Manga UP!, Yang Can’t Live Alone will conclude with Chapter 15‑3, set to appear on August 13.”
Sooncha also expressed regret for revealing the ending just before Volume 3’s launch on August 6. The creator noted that both print and digital releases could not be halted even after deciding to finish the series, and they are now in talks to reclaim the rights so the story can continue elsewhere.
Square Enix indicated that information about removing chapters from Manga UP! and stopping digital volume distribution will be shared via the app at a later time.
