CIAMIS, Thecuy.com – Residents of Situgede Hamlet, Sagalaherang Village, Panawangan District, Ciamis Regency, jointly repaired a damaged village road using community self-funding. The repair was carried out through concrete casting after the road condition was deemed increasingly deteriorated and had not received any treatment.
The community self-funding initiative attracted attention after being posted on the Situgede Info TikTok account. The post conveyed a message to West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi and Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya concerning village road development carried out using community self-funding and mutual cooperation.
In the post published on April 15, 2026, it was also mentioned that a promise of road repair by Ciamis Regent Herdiat Sunarya had been made in 2022.

But until now, residents have had to construct the road independently on their own. The concrete work has progressed to the second segment, covering approximately 300 meters in length with a width of three meters, while the remaining damaged stretch is estimated to still be about one kilometer.
The Deputy of Situgede Hamlet Youth Organization, Sagalaherang Village, Dika Dian Nugraha, confirmed the road’s condition. According to him, the village road was last paved in 2017 and has been continuously deteriorating since then.
“Road damage is due to poor asphalt quality, the prolonged time before repair, and trucks carrying timber,” he said to Radar, Friday (31/7/2026).
Since the road was not being repaired, residents then took the initiative to collect funds through community self-funding. Every motorcyclist was required to contribute Rp50 thousand, while car owners paid Rp100 thousand. Additionally, assistance also arrived from donors, including businessmen in the surrounding area and successful villagers who had prospered in various cities.
“The collected contributions and donors’ funds were used to purchase materials for concrete casting on three damaged road sections, currently only reaching the second segment covering over 500 meters. Meanwhile, the work was carried out through mutual cooperation to ensure a good road,” he said.
Head of the Ciamis Regency Public Works, Spatial Planning, and Land Department (DPUTRP), Taufik Gumelar, expressed appreciation for the community’s spirit of mutual cooperation who took the initiative to develop their village, including in road repairs.
“Alhamdulillah the community demonstrated extraordinary mutual cooperation for the village road,” he said.
