Bandai has disclosed the initial gameplay details for the upcoming NARUTO CARD GAME, providing fans an early glimpse of its mechanics, card varieties, artwork, and development timeline leading up to the worldwide launch scheduled for Summer 2027.

The news arrives before the game’s first public showing at Gen Con 2026, giving attendees a chance to experience it for the very first time. The title was originally unveiled back in June.

The collectible card game covers the full NARUTO franchise, featuring characters and storylines from NARUTO, NARUTO: Shippuden, and BORUTO:NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS. Each competitor assembles a deck built around a Leader Card, utilizing a collection of 51 cards, five Chakra cards, and a single Summon card, with the aim of lowering the opponent’s Leader’s Life total to zero.

Bandai also detailed the game’s five distinct card categories:

  • Leader Cards set the deck’s hue and overall tactical direction.
  • Character Cards act as the main offensive units and can unleash Jutsu by consuming Chakra.
  • EX Character Cards are formidable units that become playable only when certain prerequisites are satisfied.
  • Chakra Cards serve as the game’s resource mechanism for triggering Jutsu and providing auxiliary effects.
  • Summon Cards are necessary to deploy Character cards into combat.

The earliest card designs present a combination of brand‑new illustrations and art borrowed from the animated series and the comic books. Early examples feature characters such as Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, Jiraiya, Itachi Uchiha, Orochimaru, and Tsunade; some cards recreate iconic moments while others showcase authentic manga‑style artwork.

After its showcase at Gen Con, the title will appear at numerous major events before release, including New York Comic Con, PAX Australia, Spiel Essen, Paris Games Week, Lucca Comics & Games, and Bandai Card Games Fest. Further information is slated for release in December 2026, followed by in‑store tutorial sessions starting in January 2027 in preparation for the worldwide launch this summer.

Bandai has also announced plans to create a structured competitive environment after launch, encompassing local store competitions and larger tournaments that will ultimately lead to a World Championship.

The NARUTO CARD GAME will make its debut at Gen Con 2026 in Indianapolis from July 30 to August 2, offering participants complimentary tutorial sessions and promotional items at the Bandai Card Games booth.
