PANGANDARAN, Thecuy.com – Unfavorable weather conditions are feared to increase the risk of maritime accidents. Fishermen are urged to refrain from heading out to sea until the weather becomes relatively safer.
Head of the Pangandaran Police Water Police, Anang M Tri Sodikin, said that data from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) indicates a higher chance of rainfall between July 26 and August 1, 2026, prompting his office to advise the public, especially fishermen, to stay alert.
“We advise the community to boost vigilance regarding sudden weather shifts, especially in Pangandaran waters,” he said in a statement on Wednesday (29/7/2026).

Even though the country is presently in the dry season, there is an atmospheric wave activity that could cause increased rainfall across several Indonesian regions.
Consequently, addressing this situation, the Pangandaran Police Water Patrol advises fishermen, tourists, marine tourism operators, and coastal residents to always monitor weather updates before engaging in sea activities and to prioritize safety.
“We urge all residents, particularly fishermen, to stay alert for any sudden weather changes,” he said.
Before heading out to sea, Anang said, everyone must follow the instructions of the officers on the ground and should not force themselves to go out if the weather or wave conditions are deemed unsafe. “Safety must be the top priority in any maritime activity,” he said.
The Pangandaran Police Water Patrol will continue to monitor sea conditions and coordinate with relevant agencies to disseminate information and alerts to the public as a preventive measure to reduce the risk of maritime accidents and potential impacts from extreme weather.(Deni Nurdiansah)
