Banda Aceh – Aceh province is now at the final point of the Emergency Transition Status phase leading to Post‑Hydro‑Meteorological Disaster Recovery, which ends on 30 July 2026.

Aceh Governor, Muzakir Manaf (Mualem), said that the decision on the disaster status was made only after coordination with Forkopimda.

In addition, Governor Mualem will also coordinate with the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, who serves as the Head of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post‑Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra.

“The determination of the disaster status was actually discussed during the Forkopimda meeting on 23 July 2026,” said the Aceh Government Spokesperson, Dr Nurlis Effendi, in Banda Aceh on Saturday (25 July 2026).

There are two perspectives: maintaining the transition status or moving on to rehabilitation and reconstruction. Both perspectives have their own consequences and impact on field activities.

Nevertheless, according to Nurlis, Governor Mualem chose to coordinate with Forkopimda to determine the status. “The Governor believes that a joint decision is better,” he said.

Because, as Nurlis said, Governor Mualem believes that solving this disaster requires solid coordination and cooperation. “All parties have been involved in helping disaster victims so far,” he said.

For example, the military (Kodam Iskandar Muda) and police (Polda Aceh) are always present to help victims. “Moreover, non‑government organizations and universities, including journalists and influencers, and even the community are helping each other,” he said.

Governor Mualem, according to Nurlis, instructed Aceh Regional Secretary M Nasir Syamaun to involve all parties to cooperate in handling this disaster.

That’s why, Nurlis said, Secretary Nasir required that relevant parties be invited to every disaster management meeting. “Even student representatives are invited to gain a complete picture in disaster handling,” he said.

Even, according to Nurlis, Governor Mualem also wants that the logs carried by the flood into villages be given to flood victims. “So that they can use them according to their needs,” he said.

Nurlis said that the governor conveyed this during the Forkopimda meeting and also sought legal advice from Aceh Police Chief Irjen Pol Ruddi Setiawan. “All Forkopimda meeting participants agreed with Governor Mualem’s wish,” Nurlis said.

Even Nurlis added, Aceh Police Chief Irjen Pol Ruddi Setiawan is ready to help realize Governor Mualem’s hope.

The Police Chief said his personnel would be deployed to keep the logs from being removed from the disaster zone. Only disaster victims may take them, said Nurlis.
