TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – The permanent closure of the Dadaha Interim Waste Collection Station (SPA) is an urgent measure taken by the Tasikmalaya City Government to address a problem that residents have been complaining about for years.
The pungent smell emanating from piles of trash is seen as more than just a cleanliness issue; it has become a stark reflection of poor management of the city’s prized sports area and public space.
This was emphasized by Tasikmalaya Mayor Viman Alfarizi Ramadhan when he led a roll call and inspected the former Dadaha SPA site on Saturday (25/7/2026).
According to Viman, the redevelopment of the Dadaha area cannot be approached half‑heartedly.

Following an explosion incident that occurred in the area, the city administration opted for comprehensive improvements, ranging from the organization of street vendors, parking, green open spaces, to the permanent closure of the waste disposal site.
“This is our collective responsibility, not only the head of the Dadaha UPTD but also the sub‑district, district, and all relevant agencies. Today I instruct the Fire Department to clean the SPA site and then spray it with eco enzyme so that the odor no longer bothers the residents,” said Viman.
He admitted that complaints about the garbage odor always remained a sticking point during dialogues with residents and businessmen in the vicinity of the Dadaha area.
In his view, no matter how good the development concept presented by the government is, it would be difficult to gain a positive response if fundamental issues such as the garbage odor continue to haunt the area.
“Imagine opening your front door each morning and encountering the smell of garbage instead. That’s what the residents experience. How can we discuss development when problems like this remain unresolved?” he said.
Viman believes that the Dadaha area must revert to being a comfortable and clean public space that can also enhance public confidence in the appearance of Tasikmalaya City.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Environmental Department of Tasikmalaya City, Sandi Lesmana, confirmed that the Dadaha SPA has officially been permanently closed since July 22, 2026.

The decision was made because the area is no longer suitable as a waste disposal site, amid growing public aspirations for Dadaha to become clean and comfortable again.
“Alhamdulillah, as of July 22 we have permanently closed the city point. Hopefully this can anticipate various technical problems and improve the comfort of the public area,” said Sandi.
