Banda Aceh – Aceh Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Ruddy Setiawan, S.I.K., S.H., M.H., stressed the importance of enhancing partnership between the Indonesian National Police and the press as a strategic move to deliver credible, educational, and trustworthy information. This message was delivered during the Aceh Police Chief’s Media Partnership event held at the Aceh Police Presisi Building in Banda Aceh on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
The event was attended by Aceh Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Ari Wahyu Widodo, S.I.K., Aceh Police Internal Affairs Chief Police Commissioner Iskandar ZA, S.I.K., M.H., senior officials of the Aceh Police, Chairman of the Aceh PWI Nasir Nurdin and his team, senior journalist Dr. Bustamam Ali, heads of print, online, television, and radio media, as well as representatives of press professional organizations in Aceh, such as JMSI, AMSI, and IJTI.
In his speech, the Aceh Police Chief introduced himself as a new official within the Aceh Police environment. He said that Aceh was not a foreign region for him because in 2021 he had served as the Director of Narcotics Investigation for the Aceh Police. According to him, that experience provided many valuable lessons and left a deep impression on the character of the Acehnese people, who are warm, open, and uphold the values of togetherness.
He hopes that the meeting will become a moment to strengthen communication, collaboration, and synergy between the Indonesian National Police and the press. According to him, the media has a strategic role as a partner of the Indonesian National Police in maintaining security and public order (kamtibmas) stability, and also as an information bridge that can increase public trust in the Indonesian National Police institution.
“The press is a strategic partner of the Indonesian National Police. Through accurate, balanced, and responsible reporting, the media can become a force in creating a safe and conducive kamtibmas situation and building public optimism and trust,” the Police Chief said.
The Police Chief also pointed out the rapid development of information technology that has changed how people obtain, consume, and distribute information. Behind the convenience offered by the digital era, he said, there is a major challenge in the form of widespread dissemination of unverified information, hoaxes, disinformation, and provocation that have the potential to cause misunderstandings and disrupt kamtibmas stability.
According to him, this condition further emphasizes the importance of having media that are professional, independent, and have integrity. People today not only need fast information, but also accurate, balanced, and able to provide educational content that enlightens.
For this reason, the Police Chief invited all members of the press in Aceh to continue strengthening synergy and maintaining commitment to delivering quality information. He hopes that the media can be a soothing presence in society and support the creation of a conducive security and order situation for the smooth progress of development in Aceh.
Meanwhile, the event atmosphere was warm and friendly. In addition to being a gathering for silaturahmi, the meeting also served as a dialogue forum between the Aceh Police and the press to strengthen communication, align perspectives, and build closer collaboration in providing information services to the public.
The series of activities included, among others, the screening of a partnership kaleidoscope between the Aceh Police and the press, a report by the event chairman, and a question-and-answer session discussing partnership activities, handling of cyber crimes, and strengthening synergy between the Indonesian National Police and the media in maintaining the condusivity of Aceh territory.[]
