TASIKMALAYA, Thecuy.com – Calls for the Tasikmalaya City Government to promptly enact regulations prohibiting LGBT activities arose during a meeting between the Tasikmalaya City Front Persaudaraan Islam (FPI) Regional Board and the Tasikmalaya City DPRD in the DPRD Paripurna Room on Friday (17/7/2026).

During the meeting, FPI urged the DPRD to include a draft local regulation banning LGBT activities in the regional legislative agenda.

While awaiting the time‑consuming process of establishing the local regulation, FPI also urged the Mayor of Tasikmalaya to promptly issue a Mayoral Regulation (Perwal) as an initial measure.

The Chair of the FPI Regional Board, KH Yan Yan Al Bayani, said that the meeting was held to voice aspirations and encourage the local government to promptly adopt regulations that could serve as a social shield for the community.

“We are here to convey the dangers of LGBT and urge the immediate enactment of a municipal regulation banning LGBT activities in Tasikmalaya City. Thank God the response was positive, and hopefully the ban regulation will be issued soon,” he said.

According to him, the DPRD possesses legislative functions that can be utilized to formulate regional regulations.

Therefore, he urged council members to prioritize the discussion of this regulation.

In his presentation, KH Yan Yan also presented data that he described as preliminary findings gathered from various social media groups.

He claimed to have discovered thousands of members in several Facebook groups linked to the gay community in Tasikmalaya and its surrounding areas.

Additionally, he said he found several groups allegedly connected to online prostitution practices via the MiChat application.

He said the findings had been reported to the police as a basis for further action.

Nevertheless, the presented data stem from personal research and have not been verified or become official government data.

KH Yan Yan also believes that the process of enacting the local regulation will be quite lengthy.

Therefore, he asked the local government to promptly issue a Mayoral Regulation (Perwal) as a rapid measure while awaiting the regulation’s deliberation.

He also expressed disappointment that the Mayor of Tasikmalaya was not present in person at the meeting.

In his view, the issue discussed is a strategic matter and therefore should receive direct attention from the regional head.
