KOTA JANTHO – PDAM Tirta Mountala took action to address suspected illegal water connections in the Neuheun area, Baitussalam Subdistrict, Aceh Besar Regency, on Wednesday (15/7/2026).

The action was taken after PDAM Tirta Mountala received reports from the community about suspected use of clean water without a permit to support the construction activities of a housing development.

In response to the report, the management team together with the technical team of PDAM Tirta Mountala immediately conducted an inspection at the site.

The Acting Director of PDAM Tirta Mountala, Ir. Yusmadi, MM, accompanied by the Director of General Affairs Devid Zainal, SE, directly led the on-site inspection.

“Based on the inspection results, we found suspected use of PDAM Tirta Mountala water that did not follow official procedures. As a corrective measure, we immediately shut off the connection and issued a warning to the parties involved,” said Yusmadi.

He emphasized that any citizen or developer wishing to use PDAM Tirta Mountala’s clean water service must submit a new connection installation request in accordance with the applicable procedures.

In his view, the clean water managed by PDAM Tirta Mountala is a public asset that must be used in an orderly and responsible manner for the benefit of all residents of Aceh Besar.

“If you need clean water services, please come to the PDAM Tirta Mountala office to process the installation of connections and water meters officially. This water is a public asset that we must protect together,” he stressed.

Yusmadi explained that the corrective action is part of PDAM Tirta Mountala’s commitment to maintaining the reliability of clean water distribution to customers, particularly in Baitussalam Subdistrict and its surroundings.

In his opinion, unauthorized water usage may potentially reduce the supply for customers who are registered and fulfill their obligations as official users.

“Our commitment is to ensure that clean water services remain optimal. Therefore, we will continue to monitor the distribution network and take action against any suspected violations in accordance with applicable regulations,” he said.

PDAM Tirta Mountala also urges the entire community and business actors to use clean water services through legal mechanisms and to immediately report any suspected misuse of the water distribution network in their respective environments.

The corrective action is part of PDAM Tirta Mountala’s efforts to safeguard regional assets, enhance service quality, and ensure equitable availability of clean water for all customers in Aceh Besar Regency.(**)
